Return to the Classics on board the Murray Princess
07 Dec 2009
On Monday the 7th of December The Paddle Steamer Murray Princess will play host to an exciting fundraiser for the Mannum Hospital .
Alex Parkmen a highly regarded solo pianist, will play a midday concert entitled ‘Return to the Classics’ on board the vessel.
The programme features a sophisticated combination of classical
music, with compositions by Mozart, Beethoven and Chopin amongst those Mr Parkmen will play for guests.
Born in Odessa in the Ukraine, Alex Parkmen’s musical education began at age 6 when he attended the Music
High School of Professor Stoliyarskey. After graduating the Conservatorium of Music in Kiev with a Bachelor of
Music Degree, he formed a Jazz band and toured extensively with them throughout Ukraine, Russia, Eastern
and Western Europe. Following a move to Australia, Parkmen was employed in a variety of musical work,
however his love of the classics never saw him far from a piano and a classical score.
Members of the public can show their support for the Mannum Hospital and take advantage of this rare opportunity to attend a classical concert of such distinction in Mannum by phoning 0427 813 576 .
Tickets are only $25 and bookings are essential as seating is limited. A light luncheon will be provided and drinks will be available for purchase
