The
Murray River is one of South Australia’s best kept holiday secrets,
and what could be more affordable and relaxing than spending a holiday
with family and friends, cruising the river aboard a houseboat. If
this sounds like your type of holiday, then why not visit the old port
town of Mannum, when the Houseboat Hirers Association
hold their annual Houseboat Open Days in May. What
a wonderful way to plan your next houseboat holiday!
Stroll along the river’s green banks at the Mary Ann Reserve,
under the shade of majestic river gums, whilst enjoying the fun of the
day viewing options for your next floating holiday. The
Open Days display a wide range of boats, from two to
twelve berth, budget to luxury - there’s
something for everyone, and remember, you do not need a special license to drive a houseboat. There
will be plenty to see and do over the weekend, with displays, amusements
for the kids, and following the huge success of last year’s
initiative, members of the public will again be given the opportunity to
captain one of the latest modern vessels.
With the on-river demonstrations, you will be able to experience
the simplicity of driving a houseboat.
There will also be an al fresco dining area with a large variety
of quality food, and a free shuttle bus service between the free car
parking area and the Reserve. Admission
is free, and everyone’s in with a chance of winning one of 2 houseboat
holidays! So
join us in May each year and discover this unique style of holiday.
You’ll soon be dreaming about cruising away from the stresses
and strains of everyday life and experiencing one of the most relaxing
holidays available. If you
have enjoyed a houseboat holiday before, then this is a great
opportunity to start planning your next trip.
We
look forward to assisting you in planning your next houseboat holiday on
the magnificent Murray River – see you there! Enquiries:
