Native Fish Species

Murray Cod

Murray Cod are the largest freshwater fish found in the River Murray and the Murray-Darling system. They are known to grow to a weight of more than 100kg and a length of 1.8m and are usually found in deeper water near fallen logs.

SIZE LIMIT: 50 cm Minimum, 110 cm Maximum
BAG LIMIT: 2 per person per day

Callop
(Golden Perch, Yellow Belly)

Callop are possibly the most sought after fish in the River Murray and are known to reach a weight of 24kg, however a fish of this size is extremely rare. The average length for callop taken from the River Murray is in the order of 30cm to 40cm. . They are considered to be of excellent eating.
