The
new Boathouse Bar and Bistro’s themed décor is unique and based on
the heritage days of the River Murray.
Structural poles are cladded in copper depicting old steam
powered boat boilers capped at the historic ’56 flood watermark
which overcame the hotel. Open
oregon trusses provide a boathouse theme overlooking the magnificent
panoramic river view.
Sculptures
adorn the walls capturing the days of John and David Shearer foundry
years in Mannum (makers of the first steam powered car with a
differential in
Australia in the late 1800’s).
The foundry was situated next to the Pretoria and magnificent
mirrors made from original foundry moulds and artistic impressions
reflecting surrounding river life fossils are a must see.
The
Pretoria’s head chef has created a nouveau Australian cuisine menu
with traditional hotel favourites.
Weekly
gourmet specials offer culinary delights such as:
-

-
Pretoria
Pizza - $12.00
Leg Ham, salami, mushrooms, sun-dried tomatoes and basil
-

Marinated Lamb Backstrap - $14.50

Regular

tempt any taste bud and leave lasting tantalizing memories for diners.
Boat
tie up and direct river access makes the Pretoria Hotel a popular
venue for houseboats and river cruisers, for their bottle shop
supplies and a superb lawned area.
With
its new development, the Pretoria can boast the closest bar to river
access along the Murray.
Whilst
you are in Mannum, home of the paddlesteamer, the township offers many
attractions such as antiques, waterfalls, river cruises, museums and
is a showcase for the houseboat industry.
Like
Mannum, the Pretoria Hotel has an historic past with the new Boathouse
Bar & Bistro reflecting the old paddleboat days of the river.
Now
in its 100th year, the new look Pretoria Hotel is certainly
the place to be for fine cuisine, excellent scenery and country
hospitality at its best.
