Yes!….It’s
on again! The
Houseboat Hirer’s Association & Mid Murray Council’s
Annual Houseboat Open Days at Mannum.
Imagine
yourself cruising slowly along a quiet stretch of the River
Murray, fringed by majestic river gums and weeping willows,
spectacular cliffs, and an abundance of wildlife.
The
Murray River is one of South Australia’s best kept holiday
secrets, and what could be more affordable and relaxing than
spending a holiday with family and friends, cruising the river
aboard one of South Australia’s world class houseboats.
If
this sounds like your type of holiday, then why not visit the
historic town of Mannum. What a wonderful way to plan your next
houseboat holiday! Stroll along the riverbank at the Mary Ann Reserve, and enjoy
a fun day of viewing options for your next holiday or weekend
getaway.
The
Open Days will once again feature over 30 houseboats, from two to
twelve berth, budget to sheer luxury -
there’s something for everyone, and remember, you do not
need a special licence to drive a houseboat.
Apart
from the obvious interest in houseboat holidays, the event
attracts thousands of visitors for many other reasons, there will
be plenty to see and do over the weekend, with displays, craft
stalls and amusements for the kids. There will also be an al fresco dining area with a large
variety of quality food, and a free shuttle bus service between
the free car parking area and the Reserve.
The
public can also take the opportunity, for a nominal fee, to take a
short cruise aboard the grand old lady of Mannum, the PS Marion.
Go back in time, then take a step forward and inspect the
modern style of river cruising.

is free, and everyone’s in with a chance of winning one of 2
houseboat holidays!
