Take a stroll amongst the ancient river red gums

Get back to nature and experience everything the river red gum forests of southern NSW have to offer. One of the best ways to see the beauty of your natural environment is by foot, and there are several nature walks in the area just waiting to be enjoyed. Meander through the bushland, under the canopy of these impressive gumtrees, and enjoy one of the many nature walks in the area.
Take a walk along the Yanga Lake Walking Trail and Bird Hide in Balranald. An easy 1km walk from the homestead, stroll at a leisurely pace beside the lake and look for the bird hide nestled amongst the giver red gums.
For more birds, you can’t go past the Fivebough Wetlands. Located 12km north-west of Leeton, the wetlands offers 5km of walking trails which are renowned for their birdlife.
Beautiful walks are also on offer near and around Mathoura, including a range of stunning forest walks as well as the Gulpa Creek Walking Track where you’re sure to see plenty of wildlife.
Another must-do walk in the area is the recently completed Deniliquin Beach to Beach walking track, a striking walk that showcases the large array of wildlife and birdlife in the area, and creates a shared pathway from McLean Beach in west Deniliquin to Willoughby’s Beach in the Murray Valley National Park.
