The Rural City of Murray Bridge has a population of 17,000 with a very pleasant climate. Our greatest natural asset is the River Murray and the principal landmarks are the three bridges. The first bridge over the Murray was built in 1879, a rail bridge opened in 1925, and a second road bridge - the longest across the Murray - completed in 1979 at the end of the South Eastern Freeway, all give a vital link to the eastern States. Water sports, boating, fishing, skiing are popular pastimes all year round.
