Customs House (formerly Alura) Houseboats marina and general store is situated at the historic Customs House on the SA/VIC border, a 20 minute drive from Renmark, a 1.5 our drive from Mildura, a 3 hour drive from Adelaide or an 8 hour drive from Melbourne.
Moored exclusively within this National Park section of river, this small business limits their houseboat fleet to just eight boats. This allows us to maintain an elite standard of maintenance and prompt customer service, on and off the boats, while indulging the hirer in the privacy of this unique area.
Customs House Houseboats are the only houseboat company that operates within this secluded section of the River Murray, between Lock 6 in SA to Wentworth/Mildura in NSW, a distance of 220 river kilometres.
Summer boasts scarce river traffic. The regular water levels encourage bountiful fishing spots and continuous backwaters and lagoons teem with yabbies in season. The towering red clay cliffs and pristine sandbars highlight the clarity of the water. Winter’s unique warm Sunraysia weather and the abundance of natural firewood makes fireside cooking a treat or take some time to wander through wetlands teeming with bird life.
Four stroke outboard motors, quiet electrical systems, comprehensive linen supply, complete cleaning products and extensive telephone communication on board, compliments these impressive houseboats, situated within the most natural wilderness area of this magnificent River Murray.
