Murray River Paddle Steamers
Welcome
Established in 1996, Murray River Paddlesteamers commenced with The Pride of the Murray. Sine then this progressive company has expanded to include the P.S. Emmylou and the P.S. Canberra.
This award winning company has greatly contributed to Echuca’s thriving tourism industry. Our fleet of vessels is proudly presented as the best in Echuca with unequalled commitment to the preservation and presentation of the vessels.
The greatest challenge to date has been to restore the P.S. Canberra including the conversion back to steam. The project took nearly 12 months and was successfully completed in 2003.
Murray River Paddlesteamers is dedicated to providing a memorable experience, be it on a short cruise, a function, wedding, birthday party, dinner cruise or an overnight trip.

The Pride of the Murray claims a proud title: of the many boats originally built in Echuca, she along with the PS Pevensey and PS Adelaide, still operate from their home Port. Today, she spends her days providing pleasure and a unique heritage experience for Echuca’s visitors, a far cry from her original purpose as a barge. Come aboard The Pride Of The Murray and listen to the gentle splashing of the paddlewheels as you enjoy a relaxing cruise on the mighty Murray River.
Step back in time as our Captain recalls Echuca’s rich and colourful history whilst passing the massive Echuca Wharf and the magnificent redgums that line the river bank.

Built 1912 Fully Restored 2003
Driven by a superb 1923 wood-fired Marshall compound steam engine.
Cruise and enjoy the magnificent Murray River aboard the paddlesteamer that heralded the start of Echuca’s riverboat tourism.
The PS Canberra is an enjoyable way to cruise the Mighty Murray River, and capture the essence of yesteryear.

The P.S. Emmylou is a Murray River paddlesteamer, driven by a completely restored 1906 steam engine, and built to the highest world classification standards. She was built locally during 1980-82 in the style of the 19th century paddleboats, and is perfectly at home in the Port of Echuca, residing with the very few remaining paddlesteamers of the past. She is 30 metres long and 10 metres wide, steel hulled and timber decked.
The Emmylou is in fact the only wood-fired paddlesteamer in the world offering regular overnight cruising. Fuelled by redgum logs and named after US country and western singer Emmylou Harris, the paddlesteamer offers modern convenience and some old-world charm.
