Rich history teamed with culture for a first ever Around Goolwa history week celebration!
The abundant history of Goolwa will be the focal point from which the town will celebrate 10days “Around Goolwa†from May 22 to 31.
This unique event will bring life, tourists and ghosts to the streets of Goolwa with over 50 different activities scheduled.
The varied program offers all that you would expect of the history rich river port town and more, offering something for everyone…..
The Family…
“The Other side†of Goolwa is guaranteed to give you goose bumps. Explored through paranormal experiences “Ghosts Around Goolwa†tours directed by local clairvoyants Kym and Chris offer families a great nights entertainment.
The Artist…
Goolwa will host two great exhibitions during the event; The historic lithograph exhibition by the well renown artist David Dridan OAM and the “In The Top Paddock†exhibition which features unique and innovative works by artists Margaret Worth and Toyotake Yamauchi that reflect the harsh landscape in which our farmers work the land.
The Cyclist…
The exclusive “Goolwa Wreck and Riverboat Trail†is designed specifically for cyclists. The two hour trial meanders past some of the historic greats of the area including; the Ada and Clara near Goolwa Barrages, PS Federal, PS Goolwa, PS Renmark and many more. Don’t be mistaken this is not an everyday tour as it takes you past many of the Goolwa wrecks which have not been seen for many years and will not be visible when the water levels rise.
The Environmentalist…
Take a one and a half hour guided tour of the last farming property on the River Murray. Visit Mundoo and Ewe Islands, and cross the historic Mundoo and Boundary Creek Barrages. Experience the heart of the Coorong’s affluent birdlife and the station, barrage construction & paddle steamer history.
The Historian…
Tour the newly restored Australasian 1858 or take a trip on the lovely restored Steam Ranger and PS Oscar W and experience the travel that time forgot.
