The Great Australian Inland Cruise
19 - 20 Jan 2015
The Great Australian Inland Cruise (GAIC) is an epic 1,720 km trip down the Murray River by a range of small craft, including 5-9 paddle boats. This is a trip rarely before, if ever, staged on the River on such a scale over such an extended period. In that regard it is a great opportunity for all involved.
Departure will be on 22 November 2014 from Echuca with the fleet being officially received at the South Australian Annual Wooden Boat Festival (one of the best in the nation) at Goolwa at the Murray mouth on 21 February 2015. On 24 February 2015, the GAIC event will be officially concluded. Boats will then make their own way back to their elected destination or home base.
The plan is that the fleet will travel about 50 km/day and have 10-15 rest days, making a total of about 70 days. The fleet will be stopping overnight, whenever possible at a single place. The designated stop in Berri will take place on 19-20 January.
The convoy encourage any support along the way so why not send them off to their next stop with a cheerful crowd! Contact Garry for planned departure time and location.
