Magic 93.1 Riverland Dinghy Derby
The first Sunday in February Each Year
The 93.1 Magic Riverland Dinghy Derby is South Australia’s unique boat race that attracts competitors and spectators from across Australia. It is run on the first Sunday in February each year. Powered dinghies race through the River Murray & creeks around Renmark. With plenty of vantage points for families to view these awesome machines and their talented operators as they mauver through the tight, log filled creek sections and reach high speeds in the wide river sections.
There are seven classes of up to 30hp and includes a family class, which runs a separate course.
The Riverland Dinghy Derby was first run in 1981, it was a gruelling iron man event that took all day. Today the event is still running as strong as ever but is completed within 2 hours and is more of a speed & skill event then an iron man challenge.
The derby has all the ingredients which makes it an awesome motorsport event. Great action, thrills & spills, speed, excitement & is free for public to view.
Competition is open to the public and there are maps available for the best vantage points.
