Join us at the historic River Port of Goolwa for the 2011 South Australian Wooden Boat Festival, celebrating its 12th Festival. Featuring wooden boats of all shapes & sizes, music performances, arts & maritime craft workshops and boat building, great entertainment, regional food & wine, two days of festivities for the whole family.
THE FIRST WOODEN BOAT FESTIVAL IN AUSTRALIA WAS HELD IN GOOLWA IN 1980
Goolwa has a rich history of the River trade and was once a thriving River Port with Paddle steamers and fishing boats opening inland Australia. It is the gateway to the Coorong National Park with its pristine eco environment. Held biennially at the historic wharf of Goolwa, it celebrates one of the best Wooden Boat Festivals in the southern hemisphere.
In 2009, the Festival attracted over 10,000 people for the three days with wooden boats of all shapes & sizes.
