Local car dealer, Riverland Motors Pty Ltd has been awarded two prestigious awards by Mitsubishi Motors Aust. The first award was made in recognition or outstanding achievement in service performance and customer relations.
GRAPE SEASON - Riverland grape qrowers could lose $1.5m as a result of lower yields from the 1988 vintage. United Farmers and Stock Owners winegrape section executive officer David Dean said regional surveys showed the Riverland crow had fallen to about 40,000 tonnes. Main factors affecting the crop were the hail storm in mid-October, extreme heat in late-October and biennial bearing, particularly in gordos.

As from May 8, drivers in Waikerie may be inconvenienced for about three weeks as the Highway department will be in the area working on bitumising the road from Waikerie producers to the Sturt Highway.

EMERGENCY ASSISTANCE - There has been a generally favourable response to the announcement made on the weekend by the Minister for Primary Industry (Senator Wriedt) concerning emergency assistance payments to canning fruit growers. Financial difficulties have been experienced by all sections of the canning fruits industry as a result of currency adjustment both in Australia and the United Kingdom, and other overseas countries.

HEAD PREFECT INDUCTION - Judith Spurling and Don Story were inducted as the head prefects at Renmark High School. Mr. D. T. DuRieu addressed the gathering about the significance of Anzac Day.
LAND SETTLEMENT - Land Settlement questions were being answered by the Minister of Lands (Mr. C. S. Hincks) at a combined meeting of the Upper Murray Ex-Serviceman's Land Settlement Association. About 100 men were present at the meeting.
1925
RAL RAL BRIDGE - Although the construction of the bridge over the channel at Ral Tal Avenue was completed last November it has the fairway requires rolling. This cannot be done advantageously until a heavy rain has fallen.
