Mildura Palimpsest Biennale #9

Mildura Palimpsest Biennale #9, 4-7 October 2013, has commissioned 38 new site-specific artworks from 45 Australian and International artists (some working in collaboration) based on the natural and cultural environment of the region. The Palimpsest Symposium will explore similar site-specific movements internationally with three International speakers talking on ‘art as an agent of change and renewal,’ including Shamim Momin, the former Curator of the Whitney Biennale. Palimpsest is a uniquely intimate and convivial event where artists and audiences are thrown together for a weekend steeped in cutting edge art, local food and wine, absorbing speakers, animated conversation and fabulous locations.
Invited Artists: Tim Knowles (U.K.), Fabrice de Nola (Italy), David Burrows, Domenico de Clario, Bindi Cole, Filomena Coppola, Kate Cotching, Neil Fettling, Juan Ford, Mathieu Galois, Chaco Kato, Ash Keating, Ricky Mitchell, Lena Obergfell, Drew Pettifer, Christopher Williams, plus 24 open application artists and 7 post- graduate students nominated by their Head of School to take part in the student mentorship program.
