18 Nov - 31 Jan 2014

The Inaugural Murray River Art Muster, an Australian Plein-Air Artists Group Event, will see twenty national and international plein – air artists visit the area this spring.
They artists will paint and run painting workshops “in –situ” along the Murray River and around the Nathalia and Barmah area. The workshops will be open to the community and local artists, to view and participate, and will run from 18th – 29th Nov 2013.
Artists will be painting in the Barmah Forest and surrounding areas for a week, providing opportunity for art lovers, and river users to watch as the paintings are created by some of Australia’s best landscape painters.
This is a skill development opportunity for local artists to work alongside high-calibre professional artists which is an opportunity which is not readily available to regional artists.
Works produced by the 20 visiting Australian Plein- Air artists during the workshops will form a “Wet Exhibition” to be exhibited in the Barmah Forest Heritage and Education Centre from the 30th November – 2nd Feb 2014.
The exhibition opening will provide an opportunity for the community to meet the artists, learn more about the environment through the art works and also to purchase the works which will all be for sale.
The Murray River Art Muster Plein – Air event aims to further the endeavours of “River Smart Australia” by drawing attention to the beauty of our rivers through painting.
River Smart Australia aims to strengthen the links between people and the river through educating and supporting community based efforts which see our rivers utilised sustainably by helping to reduce our “river footprint”.
