As the name suggests, this festival is focused on children: we have a huge range of fun and educational activities and performances planned, so that families can have a great day out without spending a fortune.
From mini golf to cape making, clay play to getting up close and personal with some native animals, kidZcapers has something for every family to enjoy. Rock band Albian will be playing up a storm and the pushcart challenge (using vehicles from Energy Breakthrough) is also great to watch. Did I mention the Scientwists? School science experiments were never like this!
There will be stage performances by local ventriloquist Darcy Elliot and popular children’s author and illustrator Adam Wallace.
For those with energy to burn there will be laser tag as well as wheelchair basketball. Mister Mike the magician will be joined by other roving entertainers, plus there will be a variety of live local music – there’s even daytime astronomy!
There will also be temporary tattoos and face painting, for those who like the more traditional forms of children’s entertainment.
Food and drinks – including a wonderful coffee van – are available, but there is plenty of lawn and shade if you would rather bring a picnic lunch.
The green and welcoming grounds of Rochester Primary School beside the Northern Highway in Rochester make for easy parking, plenty of space and a safe environment for children of all ages.
This marvellous day out won the Shire of Campaspe ‘Community Event of the Year’ in 2012, in only its second year. A small but dedicated band of volunteers is busily planning a fantastic day out for your family, whether you live near to us here in sunny Rochester or plan to head north from the city for a fabulous weekend away.
