2010 UIM World Grand Prix Hydroplane Championship

Yarrawonga-Mulwala is proud to present the 2010 UIM World GP Hydroplane Championships. Grand Prix Hydroplanes are the world’s fastest automotive engine circuit race boats, and reach speeds of up to 180mph on inland waterways. Powered by alcohol burning 510ci supercharged Chevrolet engines, this is an event not to be missed.
The World Championships are being held together with the third annual Lake Mulwala Power Festival. The festival incorporates the world’s fastest powerboats with an exciting programme full of entertainment, outdoor displays, market stalls, trade sites, gourmet food and wine stands and a magnificent display of classic wooden powerboats.
2010 Programme:
Friday 26 November – Test and Tune, Qualifying
Saturday 27 November – Heats GP Hydro World Championships
Sunday 28 November – Heats GP Hydro World Championships (Champion decided on total points)
Monday 29 November – Back up Race Day (if required).
The Australasian Unlimited Unrestricted Displacement Championship, otherwise known as the “Marj Watson” is another key race that will be run.
Other Championship Races being held over the two days include: Mulwala Water Ski Club Yarrawonga Gold Cup, Hayes Wood Trophy – Australian Championship Unlimited Open, Mary and Ernie Nunn – GP Australian Hydroplane Championship, Lawson Shield – 6ltr. Australian Hydroplane Championship and Col Brown Trophy – Australian Oz Lite Hydroplane Championship.
Other on water activities which are being held over the weekend include a Model Power Boats Display, Classic Wooden Boats Display and Mulwala Water Ski Show.
So for a weekend filled with fun family entertainment, don’t miss the 2010 UIM World GP Hydroplane Championship.
