PLANT IDENTIFICATION WORKSHOP
15 Jun 2017
The Landcare community, landholders and interested community group members are invited to attend a workshop being held to assist in native plant identification.
The workshop will be presented by Ogyris Principal Director, Dr Ian Sluiter. Dr Sluiter is an ecologist who has published widely in the field of Australian Tertiary vegetation history with a focus on landscape ecology, rare or threatened plant and animal conservation biology. The workshop will include information about:
• the benefits of retaining native plants on your property
• how to identify native plants
• how to manage native plants to benefit productivity.
The workshop is also an opportunity to exchange information and ideas with other landholders on balancing production and sustainability on your farm.
The workshop will include a ‘paddock walk’ to allow participants to experience hands-on plant identification in the field. Participants should wear appropriate footwear and are encouraged to bring along plant samples to be identified. Morning tea and lunch will be provided. RSVP 9 June 2017.
