EARTHWORKS WORKSHOP

Acclaimed textile artist Mahdi Chandler is returning to Riverbank Press with an exciting new workshop. Discover dyeing methods using the colours of the earth and influences from Africa and Japan. Explore the riverbank and collect silt, mud, pigments, earth. Dye and print on fabric and paper using the colours of the local landscape. Create simple tools from found objects. Make pens and brushes from sticks, feathers, fibre, string. Play with a little mark making. Stencil, stain, paint, stitch, gather, use resist techniques. Mahdi Chandler has taught art and textiles for over 30 years. The natural landscape of her home in Southern Tasmania is a constant source of inspiration. $280 for this two day workshop. Includes a blank scarf in your choice of silk, linen or wool and small stretched canvas.
