Blanchetown is only 135 kms from Adelaide, through the beautiful Barossa Valley, and is known as the “Key to the Riverland”.

Places of interest include Lock 1, where you can see the water tumbling over the weir, and pelicans feasting on the fish.

It is also home to the first fish way, to assist the migration of native fish through the lock and weir system, and it is also designed to remove European Carp from the River.

Nearby is the Brookfield Conservation Park, which is sponsored by the Chicago Zoo, and you can often see the Southern Hairy Nose Wombat grazing for food.

Burk Salter Wines are open for cellar door tastings of their great range of wines, and tours of their wetland can also be arranged.

There are many historical buildings in Blanchetown, including the local hotel and Post Office, and more information can be obtained from the Blanchetown Internet Centre near Lock 1.

Griifens Marina is located directly off the Sturt Highway, 3km over the bridge heading towards Waikerie.
