VicSuper Murray Marathon

VicSuper Murray Marathon -
Now in its 42nd year, the VicSuper Murray Marathon is held from December 26 – 31 annually. One of the world’s longest canoe races, the five day flat-water race covers 404km along the mighty Murray River – bordering Victoria and New South Wales, Australia.
The race starts in Yarrawonga on the 27th December and heads downstream through Tocumwal, Picnic Point, Echuca, Torrumbarry and Murrambit before finishing in Swan Hill on New Years’ Eve.
In 2010 the end-of-marathon celebrations, including the official Closing Ceremony, will again take place at Swan Hill’s premier tourist attraction, Pioneer Settlement.
With preparation, anyone can take part in this iconic paddling race. Enter competitively or just give it a go in the Great Adventure non-competitive category. We’ve got an option for you: – Full Distance Marathon (404km) – Relay Teams – Half Marathon (202 km) – Junior Marathon (68-225km) – YMCA Murray Challenge Single Day (63km).
Paddlers taking part in the VicSuper Murray Marathon will be raising funds for the YMCA, who is dedicated to reinvesting all funds raised from the marathon into the social, economic and environmental wellbeing of the Murray River region. Last year’s paddlers raised just over $88,000 for YMCA Open Doors which is being disbursed to many disadvantaged groups throughout the region, via various programs and initiatives.
