Lake Charm one of Victoria's great watersport playgrounds
Lake Charm is a small town situated on the Murray Valley Highway, just west of a lake of the same name and 296km from Melbourne.
Lake Charm is 19 km from Kerang. The area is a popular destination for waterskiing, boating, fishing and scenic drives. It is south of Swan Hill, the nearest large town.
Lake Charm township sits nicely between Lake Charm, Kangaroo Lake and Racecourse Lake.
Lake Charm has 3 caravan parks. Lake Charm Caravan Park is beside the shop in the “township” and backs onto Racecourse Lake. 1921 Murray Valley Hwy. 0481 331 762. No boat ramp.
Pelican Water Holiday Park is on the foreshore of Lake Charm. Benjeroop-Lake Charm Rd, (03) 5457 9318. There is a boat ramp there.
And the 3rd one and the oldest, is the Lake Charm Foreshore Caravan Park, 36 Park Rd, Lake Charm. 0439 383 951. The boat ramp is not in the park but is beside it with the Powerboat Club on the other side of the boat ramp. The lake regularly hosts Ski Racing Victoria events.
Kangaroo Lake is very popular for ski boats, fishing, swimming and canoeing too. There is a boat ramp at the caravan park and also on the west side at Gorton Point. Kangaroo Lake is where former Prime Minister from 1968 to 1971, Sir John Gorton’s family home and farm being opposite Gorton Point. There is a toilet block here but it is no camping. The road along the west side of the lake has been named Gorton Drive.
Kangaroo Lake Caravan Park is on the north end of the lake beside the highway – 2625 Murray Valley Hwy (03) 5457 9333.
