Welcome
Balranald is situated on the Murrumbidgee River and the Sturt Highway in western NSW and is considered by locals to be the Gateway to Mungo National Park and on the doorstep of the new Yanga National Park only 10kms to the east of the town. The second town in the Balranald Shire is Euston, located on the Murray River 80kms west of Balranald.
According to the Google Earth there are two lumberjack frog sculptures sawing a large log at the entrance to the Balranald Visitor Information Centre car park.
The picture shows two frogs, donated by Campbell Sawmills, of the eighteen or more Southern Bell Frog sculptures that can be found around Balranald. Other frog sculptures named on Google Earth include the pole dancing frog and the frog waiting for a bus.
Visit the Balranald Visitor Information Centre and ask for a copy of the frog sculpture trail map that will show you where all the frogs are. Of course you can ask for any other local and regional information you would expect to find at an accredited visitor information centre, including local brochures and the Five Rivers Fishing Trail brochure for fishing folk wanting to know more about this area.
